  • What is your role at Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln? What do you do?

I am the Recruitment and Event Coordinator! In a nutshell, I am responsible for managing our agency's recruitment strategy and event preparations. I also assist with our marketing efforts, including social media, copywriting, graphic design, website management, and community engagement. I have become more involved with agency development in the last few months by integrating FormAssembly into BBBSL. Through this, our enrollment process will become more streamlined and accessible.

  • What drew you to Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln initially?

During my senior year at UNL, my final semester project was to create a set of strategies for BBBSL with a team of fellow students. I realized how beneficial my field could be to nonprofits throughout the project, and the idea stuck. The thought that my schooling could assist and improve organizations that better the community sounded fantastic! In the summer of 2021, I noticed that BBBSL was hiring a Recruitment and Event Coordinator, so I took a shot at the role! As luck would have it, the team picked me.

  • What is your favorite part about working for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln?

Knowing that, at its core, our team's work directly improves the lives of youth and families in Lincoln. It is a bit cliché, but they are our future. If what we do can nudge them towards leading a successful life even by just a bit, our efforts are worth it. I enjoy hearing stories about our mentors and the growth in their own lives that came from being with their mentees. The environment at BBBSL emphasizes a belief in potential, and I think that extends not only to the youth in our program but also to what our team can do.

  • Before working at Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln, what was the most interesting job you've ever had?

During college, I worked as a pizza delivery driver for three and a half years! I needed a decent way to make income for costs of rent, living, school, etc., and it fit the bill at the time. Though it resulted in my previous car's demise, it was a positive learning experience. Delivering pizza to folks of varying backgrounds gave me a first-person view of Lincoln life, and the time spent listening to audiobooks while delivering was fun too!

  • What is your favorite hobby?

Right now, I am learning how to draw. I have always wanted to improve, so I read about it and practice when time allows!
